Trinidad kurma recipe |
Ingredients
2 cups of all purpose flour
2 tablespoons of condensed milk
1 oz. Margarine
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoon ginger
1 cup water
Syrup:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
Method
Add all the ingredients listed above (with the exception of the water) into a mixing bowl and combine together. Gradually add the water and form into a hard dough.
Roll out and cut into strips to desired length and thickness.
Put a deep pot on the stove and add a generous amount of oil. Allow the oil to hot. Put the strips of rolled dough into the pot of hot and allow they to fry until golden brown.
Remove and place on plate with brown paper or paper towel.
For the syrup: put a sauce pan on the and add the water and sugar. Allow the mixture to boil until thickened.
Pour syrup over kurma and mix together until crystalized.
