In this blog post I share how to make some enticing breadfruit puffs with everyday ingredients. These breadfruit puffs are simple, easy and fun to prepare.
chive finely chopped
parsley finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup milk
oil for frying
1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
Using a sharp kitchen knife, cut the breadfruit into four sections and then peel off the skin on each section. Cut out the core of each section of breadfruit. Put the peeled breadfruit into a pot of water (enough to cover all the pieces of breadfruit) and put the pot with the breadfruit on the stove. Allow the breadfruit to cook until tender – which should be 30-40 minutes. Turn off the stove, throw out the water.
Mash the cooked breadfruit with a potato masher. In a small bowl, whisk the egg, milk and add to mashed breadfruit. Combine together until fully incorporated.
Add the other ingredients with the exception of the breadcrumbs and oil. Mix to combine. Use about one ice scoop of the seasoned breadfruit mixture and form into a ball. Dip each breadfruit puff into a bowl with breadcrumbs until fully coated and set aside. Continue this step until all the breadfruit mixture is used up.
In a large skillet, heat enough oil for frying. Once the oil is hot, gently place the breadfruit puffs into the skillet with the hot oil and allow them to fry until golden brown. Remove and place on a plate lined with paper towel.
These breadfruit puffs can be served with some tamarind sauce. Super delicious!!!
