In this blog post I share how to make an exquisite breadfruit pie Caribbean style. This dish is super delicious and can be a unique addition to a Sunday meal. A slice of this pie can be eaten alone or with a simple flavorful salad.
salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Using a sharp kitchen knife, cut down the center from the stem and cut each half into half. Peel off the skin, cut off the core of the breadfruit. Put the breadfruit into a pot of water (enough to call all the pieces of breadfruit), add a bit of salt and put the pot on the stove and allow the breadfruit to cook.
After about 20-25 minutes the breadfruit should be nice and tender (you can use a fork to pierce each piece of breadfruit to check to see if they are tender). Remove from the stove, pour out the water and allow the breadfruit to cool.
In a mixing bowl, add the egg, milk, salt, seasoning of your choice, grated cheese and mix together.
With the cool breadfruit, cut each piece into smaller pieces. Pour the cheese mixture over the breadfruit pieces and gently incorporate everything together well. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Set oven at 350 degrees and bake for approximately 25 minutes until golden brown.
