In this post, you will learn how to grow a avocado plant from the seed, in water.
The process is quite simple, but it can take some time. It involves simply taking the nut from inside the avocado fruit, cleaning it of both avocado meat as well as the brown layer of skin.
Stick a toothpick into the mid section of the avocado seed. Then stick about two more at the same level of the first one.
You can use an empty water bottle for this next step. Cut the bottle in half, place the avocado seed with the toothpicks on the water bottle. The toothpicks enables the avocado to easily suspend in the water bottle.
Pour some water into the water bottle, just enough to reach the bottom of the avocado seed. Position this water bottle with the avocado seed on your kitchen counter, maybe. Monitor the water levels in the water bottle. Top up when necessary.
Sprouting can take up to 3 months, the part of the seed that is in the water will begin to split open and grow roots. The split will open up wider and and the avocado plant will sprout to the top of the seed. Quite cool.
